I was not expecting The Are Murders to get that much attention but it seems a lot of people loved it like you said. It's made me want to watch it. It sounds like it's a good bingeable crime show.
Ok now I'm even more curious because I'm also not into crime thrillers / dramas but there's also a random one that gets me hooked so I ended up watching a lot of crime last year just randomly. I'll add the Are Murders to my list
Your grandmother sounds wonderful; so was mine. Those kinds of relationships are so precious and live with us forever. I think about my nana everyday.
Books: I’m listening to The Life Impossible, by Matt Haig and loving it. It’s read by Joanna Lumley, which is such a treat. Before that I read Leaving by… Roxana something… I’m upstairs and the book is downstairs and my tummy hurts so I’m not going to look . I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t uplifting in any way. Very sad. I’m reading a lot of poetry, and I’m loving Instructions for Traveling West, by…oh dear, sorry my tummy hurts! It’s really good. And I listened to The Wedding People and enjoyed it a lot; very well read! I’ve bought so many books recently that I can’t listen to because the reader drives me mad!
Thanks, Francesca! I really liked The Life Impossible. But I end up reading everything over listening for exactly the reason you give. Sometimes, I just can’t get into the voices reading. Plus I like to see the words. Perhaps I’m more of a visual person?
Thanks for the recommendations. And I hope your tummy sorts itself out 💕
Your grandmother sounds like she was an amazing woman and supportive presence in your life, Ingrid. It's lovely to learn more about her here.
I saw the latest Bridget Jones late afternoon on Sunday. The cinema was busy and you could feel the warm response to the film, including from my companions. I didn't "cllick" with it quite so much and I'm not sure why. I'm glad it's doing so well though!
Yes, I agree that was a really touching aspect, Ingrid, and added depth to the film. I’m not such a fan of the “goofy” bits – and that comes with Bridget’s character!
May your grandmother’s memory be a blessing. Sounds like it already is! What a beautiful picture and way to remember her. Love this 🥰
I’m laughing over here because my husband’s solo show these days is that Swedish crime show. He’s addicted. I have “Rogue Heroes” and he had scandinoir. I guess we will always have Netflix.
Thanks for the Rom-Commers shout out. I must read the ARC of her next one (The Love Haters I think it’s called) but alas I need to finish Onyx Storm first!
As always so many good recos here. Love your stack.
Thanks so much, Beth. Good to know your husband is into the Swedish show too! Lol! I don’t even know how I got hooked on it. I hardly ever watch a crime shows!
Love that quote from Rooney. You are a stronger person than I would be to wait on Intermezzo! You might have lured me into a Swedish crime (no snow outside at our end)! And your grandmother sounded wonderful, you paint a lovely picture of her.
That is such a sweet memory with your grandmother.
I am a fantasy fan, so I'll surely check out your recommendation here! Thanks. :)
Thanks, Rachel! Hope you like them!

It’s not too intense either. I’m kind of curious myself what exactly about it hooked me, as I’m not really a crime show person.

Oprah has done me wrong before. She started strong, but in the past couple of years her book picks have been .. bad?
It’s hit or miss for me. I loved Covenant of Water. Wait- I think that was a pick of hers.

Thanks, Wendy! I think what got me was the son missing his dad part. I always think of my dad at times like that.
